Financial pressures are forcing colleges and universities to manage their costs more aggressively, develop new sources of income, and explain the rising cost of tuition to public officials and parents. But many institutions lack the information they need to understand their cost structure and evaluate their financial options. In response to this need, Stillwater provides a range of analytic and advisory services. Integrated Resource Planning is Stillwater’s proprietary technique for measuring the underlying wealth of colleges and universities, identifying areas of weakness, and developing long-range plans for operations and assets. P/L, also developed by Stillwater, provides a comprehensive analysis of operating costs by unit. It is most useful in the analysis of academic programs. Finally, Stillwater is frequently engaged to develop internal budgeting and financial-control processes, such as responsibility center budgeting and instructional budgeting. In such engagements we interview the major participants in the process, identify areas of agreement and disagreement, and design a budgeting process that incorporates best practices. |
