STRATEGY
Strategic planning is a
disciplined effort to reach explicit, fundamental decisions that guide what
an organization does and why it does it. Strategy encompasses values
and philosophy, programs and policies, resource commitments, and competitive
position.
An effective strategy enables
academic institutions to shape their future –– to anticipate change, to
identify and capitalize on emerging opportunities (and threats), and to
position themselves for the competitive and financial challenges that lie
ahead.
Too often, strategic planning in
academic
institutions is a contentious, frustrating, tedious
process. Precious staff and faculty time is consumed in seemingly endless
meetings that accomplish little in the way of tangible results.
Stillwater designs structured,
data-driven strategic planning processes that work. We also provide analytic
and logistical support, and facilitate the strategic-planning process from
beginning to end –– usually in three months or less. As skilled, experienced
facilitators, our consultants can forge a sense of shared purpose and vision
among the various constituencies represented in the process, and help them
make the difficult choices that strategic planning entails. |
